HISTORY OF THE SECTION
The Photographic Section, was one of the first sections to be set up by the Sports and Social Club, during it’s peak period in the 1980’s, when it had in excess of 100 members.
WHAT DID THE SECTION OFFER
The section had a fully equipped darkroom, situated in the Social Club, and a comprehensive list of loan equipment.
We sold film, and specialised batteries for cameras, at good discount prices.
A few photo shoot sessions, e.g. Portrait Photography, and supporting events, held at the Sports and Social Club, took place.
THE SECTION NOW
The current situation, is that the section now caters for members with activities, and outings, for those wishing to get actively involved, and act as a knowledge base for other members with support and advise.
The bias is now towards digital photography, and the section currently has around 25 members, with an active core membership of about a dozen members.
The proposals going forward, are to have regular meetings at the Social Club, with discussion evenings, or events where members can put questions to other members. This could extend to demonstrations, and/or seminars, on topics such as, software and camera techniques, table top photography, and use of studio lighting familiarity.
